About Laura
I am passionate about supporting individuals on their healing journey.
I see human beings and the human body as a holistic, living, integrated system in which all parts – physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual – are interconnected. I believe in the inherent intelligence and capacity of the body-mind-spirit to heal.
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated with using my hands to feel, listen, create and connect. This expressed itself as digging my hands in the earth, shaping clay, and holding hands with my friends. In college, my childhood past-time became a pursuit of learning about how the human body, heart, and mind can express. Here I learned how body, heart, and psyche are inextricably connected to each other, influencing and shaping one another. I learned about how trauma can affect a person’s everyday life experience.
In my early 20’s I significantly embarked on my own healing journey. I am grateful to have been supported and guided by many different therapists and bodywork practitioners utilizing a range of efffective modalities. I have suffered years of chronic migraines, times of intense anxiety, complex PTSD, sexual assault and great loss. My own personal path of psychotherapeutic and somatic healing has deeply informed how I am as a practitioner. I create a space of dignity and respect for all Life.
When not working with clients, I enjoy exploring the forests and beaches of Vashon in all manners of movement—running, hiking, dancing, biking; tending our beautiful permaculture orchard-garden and land; sharing time with my partner and child; leading community song circles; and doing my part to make the world a better place.
I am committed to continue to learn and grow in my role as a practitioner of somatic healing.
